The Amur Tiger is the largest of the Tigers and in fact recognised as the largest big cat in the world. They live in the Amur region of Russia and there are now known to be a few just over the border in China. There are around 450 of these magnificent cats remaining in the wild. The Chinese medicine trade and habitat destruction are the main reasons for the low numbers that remain in the wild.
